              SELF MANAGER'S PLAN

             BETTY KIEFER ELEMENTARY

 Dear Parents,

The Betty Kiefer Elementary Staff is excited to let you know that we have implemented a Self-Manager Program that is designed to teach and encourage personal responsibility for all students.  The plan has been introduced to the students, and we are looking forward to recognizing our first group of self-managers in early October.  A description of the program is included with this letter to let you know more about the self-manager plan.

We believe every child can be a Betty Kiefer Elementary Self-Manager.  We will do our best to help your child achieve this goal.  We encourage you to review the plan with your child and support him/her in their effort to become a self-manager.  A special activity/incentive will be provided each month for students who are self-managers.

Sincerely,

Betty Kiefer Elementary School Staff

THE BETTY KIEFER ELEMENTARY SELF-MANAGERS PLAN

Personal responsibility: The ability to manage one’s own behavior. This is the key to success both personally and as a member of society and is therefore an important goal of our school.

The Betty Kiefer Elementary Self-Managers Plan is designed to:

*Help students develop and value responsibility for themselves,

       property and others.

*Recognize and reward those students who are responsible.

The basis of responsibility is making the right choices.  The Betty Kiefer

Elementary Self-Manager Plan provides a set of expectations (or goals)

to help students make those right choices.

HOW IT WORKS:

A process for becoming a Betty Kiefer Elementary Self-Manager:

1.        Classroom teachers explain the program and responsibilities.

Specialists explain their expectations.

2.        Students practice the self management skills described on

the application.

3.        Students complete the applications as self-assessment.  Primary

teachers may give more assistance to their students.

4.        The students then conference with their teacher to discuss their

goals and determine areas that they may need to work harder on.

  1. Student is responsible for setting up the appointment.

  2. The teacher is responsible for letting the students know when she/he is available.
