·  Hours:  Monday thru Friday 7:40 - 3:15

Library materials are accessed and checked out through a computerized circulation system.

·  Book Collection:  over 10,000 items including:

 

·  Fiction

·  Non-fiction

·  Paperback

·  Reference

·  Books-on-tape

·  Books-on-CD

 

·  Magazine Collection:  approximately 90 different titles on a variety of subjects. 

  • Magazines may be checked out for 3 days. 

  • A late fee of .05 cents per day is charged for overdue magazines. 

  • Back issues of magazines are kept for 3 years.

 

  ·  Networked Computers for student use:  30

          

Guidelines for computer use:

  1. In order to use computers, students must sign and abide by the Lakeland School District 272 Network Acceptable Use Agreement.
  2. When classes are in session students must have teacher permission to use computers
  3. During lunch, before and after school, students may schedule themselves to use computers.
  4. Library staff must give permission before students may print.  Printing for personal use is not allowed.  Color copies may be printed for 25 cents per page.
  5. No chat rooms or games.

·  Geometer's Sketchpad

·  Quicken

 

All databases can be accessed from home.  Ask the librarian for the usernames and passwords.

·  Color Laser Printer (25 cents per page for color prints)

·  Copy Machine (10 cents per page)

 
 

Students need to be aware of the following library policies:

  1. Students need a pass to use the library when not accompanied by a teacher.
  2. Students must schedule themselves to use the computers when not with a class.
  3. Students may check out books for 4 weeks.  When the book is due they have 2 weeks to return or renew the book.  If the book is not returned or renewed by that time the student is assessed a $1.00 late fee.   Magazines are available for a 3 day checkout, late fee is 5 cents per day.  Reference materials are available for overnight checkout, late fee is 10 cents per school day for each overdue item.  Fines can be paid in cash or by donating one can of food for a local food bank for each 50 cents owed.
  4. Taking materials out of the library without proper checkout is considered stealing and will be dealt with as such.
  5. Students are charged replacement cost for lost or damaged items.
  6. Tampering with or removing book theft prevention devices from library materials is considered destruction of school property.
  7. No food, candy or drinks are allowed in the library
