7th Grade LANGUAGE ARTS
Texts: Holt Elements of Language
Zaner-Bloser Spelling Connections
Prentice Hall Literature
This course includes the study of the English language. It encompasses the areas of written composition, written and oral expression, grammar, punctuation, spelling, vocabulary and reading and analyzation of literature.
Work for class will include: Daily Oral Language exercises, assignments from texts, worksheets/study guides, written projects, teacher generated notes,, computer tasks, reading selections from the text, learning about various elements that are present in literature, learning new vocabulary, reading for pleasure, improving comprehension, and Accelerated Reader Computer program.
Grading Policy: points earned will be divided by the points possible to obtain a percent score. A grade will then be assigned using the district scale. Points will be earned through daily work, participation of entry tasks, worksheets/text assignments, quizzes, tests and projects.
7th Grade SOCIAL STUDIES
Text: McDougal Little World Cultures & Geography Eastern Hemisphere
This is a survey course that includes study of the Eastern Hemisphere, ancient civilizations, major events that became turning points in world history, and the effect these have had on our lives in the interdependent world that we live in today. Map and geography skills will also be part of the curriculum.
Work for the class will include daily entry question, map skills, reading from the text, worksheets/study guides, videos, teacher generated notes, and special projects that require research and some work at home.
