Sixth grade
students have the opportunity to demonstrate and develop their
leadership skills by participating in the ambassador program.
Typically there are eight to ten students per semester who are chosen to
be the "leaders" of the school. These individuals assist the
school in various duties throughout the year. Students may escort
our kindergartners to the bus, assist with snack time, distribute notes
to students and assist during our assemblies.
If a student is
interested in fulfilling one of these positions, then he/she must
complete an application. These applications are then evaluated by
the sixth grade teachers, the principal and myself (Mrs. Gabrick).
The student is evaluated on neatness of the application, his/her
behavior both in and out of the classroom and finally by the letter of
recommendation that the student must secure in order to apply.
This process allows the student to experience the steps involved in
applying for a "job".
