Hi! My name is Patti Gabrick and
I am the school counselor at Spirit Lake Elementary. I have worked in
the education field for the last six years in Pocatello and am excited
to be here in northern Idaho. Lakeland School District is an excellent
district for children to learn and grow.
As the school counselor, I provide
individual counseling and facilitate small groups on topics such as
social skills, friendship, divorce, and grief/loss. I also work with the
teachers and provide guidance activities in the classroom relating to
making friends and getting along, as well as activities of how to solve
problems peacefully. Sixth graders will also have guidance activities on
career awareness. It’s never too early to start thinking about the
future.
In addition, I am also involved in
the self manager program. This program is our character education
program and teaches students the importance of being responsible for
ones own behavior. Students work hard at achieving this honor and
maintaining their “button” throughout the year. Not only are the
students rewarded intrinsically but they are also motivated by the
monthly activities and special privileges that teachers may provide.
