History of Timberlake Cross Country 2003 First year of the program! 8 runners completed the season. The girl’s team qualified with a second place finish at the district meet. One boy qualified individually. At the state meet, three girls and one boy earned state medals (Capri Morton 10th, Alyssa Mattison 11th, Chelsea Cazier 17th and Tyler Zwiers 20th) 2004 15 runners completed the season. The girls and boys teams qualified for the state meet by finishing second at the district meet. The girls team finished 5th at the state meet. Two individuals earned state medals (Chelsea Cazier 8th and Alyssa Mattison 19th). The boys finished 11th at the state meet with their first complete team ever. One individual earned a state medal (Tyler Zwiers 5th) 2005 18 runners completed the season. The girl’s team was dealt a VERY difficult blow by finishing 3rd at the district meet, one point out of second and from qualifying for the state meet. The boys team easily won the district meet with a near perfect score of 19 points. They went on to finish 2nd at the state meet, bringing home the first Cross Country state trophy to Timberlake. Three boys were individual medallists (Frank Lagrimanta 1st, Tyler Zwiers 8th and Chris Dallenbach 19th). 2006 22 runners completed the season. This was also the year we began the Junior High program. We had 10 complete the season in its inaugural year! The girls team got back on track by qualifying for state with a 2nd place finish at the district meet making it the 3rd time in the fourth year of the program. They went on to finish 7th at the state meet. The boys team earned their spot to state for the third year in a row winning the district title for the second consecutive year. At the state meet Frank Lagrimanta went on to win his second consecutive individual state title by crushing the field by 49 seconds. 2007 We began an Elementary Cross Country program at Twin Lakes Elementary with over 60 runners competing from Kindergarten through the 6th grade! The girls team qualified again for the state meet by finishing second at the district meet. Lead by Alex Turbin’s 15th place finish, they would go on to finish 10th at the state meet. The boys team won their third consecutive district title. They would go on to the state meet to finish 6th, lead by Brian Tucker’s 9th place finish. |
